I don’t watch FOX News. For me, FOX news has long ago lost all credibility.

Most of us by now know that FOX News is nothing more than an anti-liberty,
anti-Constitution, anti-truth, anti-the American heart & soul propaganda machine.Every once in a while though, while skimming through the Majors CNN,FOX,MSNBC I will see something that catches my attention.
catches my eye, and usually pisses me off. This is such a case.

Recently trouble erupted in the area of South Ossetia between the Country of Georgia and Russia.

I admit that untill this trouble started I was compleatly ignorant on all matters concerning America/Georgia/Russia -so, I looked for news.

This is where mainstream media news lack of credibility becomes a problem. All of them, not just FOX.

Because of its history MSM can not be trusted.

MSM forces me to seek truth elsewhere.

Alex Jones of Infowars.com says that Georgia is a country whos current government was made by the CIA. That Georgia started the conflict by attacking Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia. Included with the
Gerogian forces are American mercenaries.

The west provocing a shooting war, with the Russia?

That is maddness!

If Jones is right, the diabolical nature of this event can be far reaching. We are talking about a proxy(for now) war with Russia. It is extremely important for us to be well-informed as events unfold.

Who has the earned credibility to help us get accurate information?

FOX? Inforwars?

Enter Bonnie Erbe, columinst for US News & World report. Bonnie apeared on FOX news and three times tried to discuss the conflict between Georgia and Russia.
Three times she was ignored compleatly, and the host Greg Jarret insisted on staying on the topic of, get this, -John Edwards affair.
Three times Ms Erbe tried to take the conversation to the Georgia vs Russia shooting war, and three times Greg Jarret stuck to his talking point of John Edwards affair.
Three times.
To the best of my knowledge Alex Jones didnt bother to give the Edwards affair much coverage. Relegating the Edwards affair to the ” this garbage does not matter bin.

A shooting war with Russia vs John Edwards sex life. FOX of course chooses the Edwards affair, and in doing so hands credibility to Alex Jones on a silver platter.

Outdoor heaters will extend the times we can use our decks and outdoor spaces, therefore reducing drops in revenue during the off-season, and preventing cancellations in the spring and fall due to chilly weather.

Group sales would no longer become stagnant in the off season, and it would generate more repeat sales. Customers come more often because they know we will be able to accommodate them regardless of the temperature. Outdoor heaters could become that extra selling point that appeals to vendors and groups for winter and Spring events i.e. New Years, the Super Bowl, and Christmas parties.

As for upfront cost, average ‘infrared/radiant’ type heaters run from about $200 to $500+ per unit. According to Schwank Group*, ‘the specialist for energy efficient infrared heating solutions’,
“many of our customers have compensated the investment costs within only 2 weeks.”

Here’s a rundown on the types of outdoor heaters from Squidoo.com*.

“Electric radiant heaters will usually be mounted to ceilings and provide safe and efficient heat. They are usually rectangular shaped anodized reflectors heating only the objects that they are directed at. There is little if any loss of heat into the air. You can find these heaters in a selection of lengths which allow you to optimize your costs to select the correct number of heaters for your specific area. Models also range in wattage from approximately 1500 watts to 4000 watts. These heaters need less clearance height than the gas radiant heaters which make them perfect for spaces with lower ceilings. Most models are made with corrosion resistant alloy to withstand humid climates. Professional installation is suggested as these units must comply with local codes.

Propane heaters are typically the post and cap style heaters that can are freestanding, mobile, self contained units that run off of propane gas tanks. These heaters provide heat by burning propane gas and radiating heat off of burner grids located at the top of the heater. These heaters can radiate heat out to a radius up to 15 feet depending on the BTU output of the heater. The higher the BTU’s the more powerful the heater. These heaters are fairly affordable and can be placed wherever they are needed in an outdoor setting.

Natural gas heaters are another great way to heat an outdoor commercial setting. These heaters are less mobile than the propane heaters but they run on direct natural gas lines that provide continuous fuel without the need of refilling a tank. These types of heaters provide a sleeker look because they do not have to hide away a bulky propane tank. They radiate heat the same way as the propane tanks and also come in a variety finishes to match the décor of your commercial space.”

The heaters spread about a 20′ blanket of warmth, varying by model and brand. Over time and with more use, a commercial-grade heater will cost less to operate than open fire bowls. Infrared patio heaters produce radiant heat like the sun, warming people and objects and not the air in between, producing the only form of heat that will not blow away. There is no gas, propane or open flame and most can be permanently installed so there is no worry with storing them when not in use. These will allow for comfortable and constant warmth enabling our customers to stay longer outside which in turn increases our sales.

For our needs, radiant heaters would be ideal for the decks and the bar. They are very low maintenence, safe, energy efficient and are ready to go at a simple flick of a light switch. No setup, so it’s less to worry about for our party setups. They’ll aso stand up better to our humid summers.

“Due to a lack of awareness, many people tend to choose gas patio heaters when opting for outdoor heating although this is not necessarily the most cost-effective or energy efficient method. While gas patio heaters do offer a good and consistent heat they are expensive to buy and maintain and bear a high carbon footprint. Alarmingly, a recent study showed that a typical gas heater used for two hours produces the same amount of carbon dioxide as a car produces in an average day.” (schwank.de.en)

Outdoor heaters are a low cost, effective way to increase our profits year round and reduce loss from weather related complaints.

My cat, Miles, was not what you would call “active.” A very rotund fella, he peaked out around 25 pounds (before he went on a strict diet and exercise regimen), and his favorite activity was lying on his back doing nothing while people rubbed his belly. So I never thought he was particularly bright.

But when properly motivated, he turned into a problem-solver extraordinaire. I typically fed Miles right after I woke up, so he developed quite an assortment of tricks to get me out of bed in the morning. I had countermeasures for pretty much all of them.

Purring in my ear – Ignore until he gives up

Licking my face – Harder to ignore, so I cover my head with the sheet

Nibbling my exposed fingers after I pull the sheet over my head – Use the pillow as a shield

Burrowing under the covers and head-butting me – Wrap blanket tightly around my body and close all access points

When direct methods didn’t work, Miles would resort to noisemaking tactics, but I found ways to deal with those as well.

Sit next to the window and bat at the blinds – Move the furniture to put them out of reach

Smack the spring doorstop so that it TWANGS – I removed that doorstop in a jiffy!

Rattle any closed doors against their door jambs – Felt pads are effective

But one time, Miles did something I did not think a cat could have figured out. One early morning I woke up because my phone was ringing, but when I picked up the cordless receiver next to my bed, there was nobody there. Mildly annoyed, but now awake, I started my morning routine.

Strangely, the next morning the same thing happened. Early morning prank calls were too juvenile, even for my friends, so I assumed someone was calling the wrong number and was too embarrassed to acknowledge it. Not being a morning person, I wasn’t pleased. When the same thing happened the following morning, I was so frustrated that I decided to walk over to the phone and unplug the darn thing. That’s when I noticed Miles, standing on top of the base unit and, apparently, pressing the “page” button.

Coincidence, you say? He just happened to step on the phone and it woke me up, but it was an accident? I thought so too. So I tested it out. I didn’t unplug the phone, and the next morning I heard the ringing again. But this time I didn’t move. I peeked out from under the covers silently observing as Miles patiently manned his post, perched on top of my phone, for no less than a full half hour.

Exasperated and awed, I finally gave in and sat up in bed. Then, as nimbly and matter-of-factly as could be expected from a 20-something-pound cat, he hopped over to my bed and gave me a look that was part “feed me” and part “I gotcha!”

I promptly dug through my closet, found the extra hardware that came with the phone, and mounted it on my wall. Do you have any pets who do crazy things? Feel free to share. I always like a good pet story.

”DELTONA, FL – An ATM machine was ripped from the floor of a convenience store and hauled off early this morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Haught said deputies responded to an alarm sounding at a Kangaroo Express store, 400 Welcome Center Drive, at about 3:14 a.m. Deputies found the store’s front door frame in the parking lot. An ATM that had been bolted to floor inside was missing. Haught said that it appears the machine had been ripped out by a rope or chain attached to a vehicle. No estimate of how much money the machine contained or the damage to the building was available this morning. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Tipsters can also provide information by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.”

The peanut recall offers a prime opportunity to merge all federal food safety oversight into one agency, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Friday.

Right now, the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture share oversight responsibilities, along with other government agencies, dividing authority along lines that don’t always make sense. For example, the FDA oversees eggs in the shell, while the Agriculture Department is responsible for processed egg products.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Environmental Protection Agency share some food oversight as well.

“You can’t have two systems and be able to reassure people you’ve got the job covered,” Vilsack said. “This is a grand opportunity for us to take a step back and rethink our approach.”

A salmonella outbreak blamed on Peanut Corp. of America has sickened at least 575 people in 43 states. At least eight have died. More than 1,300 foods that used ingredients from the company’s processing plant in Blakely, Ga., have been recalled. While the outbreak appears to be slowing down, new illnesses are still being reported.

The FDA is responsible for inspecting peanuts, but some Agriculture Department auditors visited the plant to review records, according to the department.

Vilsack said he isn’t sure what his department could have done differently under the circumstances.

Several members of Congress — including Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn, who heads the House subcommittee that oversees agriculture spending, and Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democratic leader — have pushed unsuccessfully for a single food safety agency for years. The Bush administration never addressed the issue.

How many times have you stumbled home after a long night out with friends, only to plop down in front of the computer and start sending e-mails that you would wake up regretting the next day? OK, maybe some of our older readers in the crowd have never moved beyond “drunk dialing,” but many of us are probably more familiar with the embarrassing phenomenon, a technological evolution of the drunk dial. Thanks to a new project out of Google Labs, however, you can at least stop yourself from sending “impaired” e-mails during certain hours.

Called “Mail Goggles,” the Gmail add-on makes sending e-mail from Gmail more difficult during certain times that you can set manually (while sober, that is). How does it do this? If you have Mail Goggles installed—which you can do by going to the “Labs” tab under your Gmail settings and turning them on—it will force you to answer a series of math questions before sending out any new messages.

Not only can you adjust the days and hours yourself under your General Gmail settings, you can also adjust the math difficulty.

If you get any of the questions wrong, Mail Goggles will say, “Water and bed for you. Or try again.” Of course, if you set the math settings too high, you may have a tough time solving some of those problems in under 60 seconds, even when sober (the ones pictured above are from a math level of 3). Then again, if you’re sober, you could just turn Mail Goggles off and hit send on that impassioned letter to your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend or that flame to your boss.

Now, if only I could get something like this for text messaging on my Blackberry on Friday and Saturday nights.
